From Idea to Opportunity

As part of the Postgraduate in Business Innovation and Design Leadership (SHIFTA by ELISAVA), we developed LidlMax. The goal wasn’t just to “build an app,” but to validate a real business opportunity quickly and efficiently.

Before designing any screens, we spent time understanding what was broken in the current experience. The problem wasn’t just technological: it was also a value proposition issue. We analyzed the sector, reviewed benchmarks, and mapped recurring frictions in purchasing, loyalty, and sustainability.

The Opportunity

You don’t need to develop the full product to validate a powerful opportunity. You need a clear hypothesis, a useful prototype, and well-defined metrics.

Why AI + Low-code?

We didn’t want to invest weeks in development to validate something that might not have traction. That’s why we bet on low-code tools: enough fidelity to test the proposal without the cost of traditional development.

Artificial Intelligence wasn’t planned as superficial hype, but as a strategic layer to solve specific frictions: list personalization, demand prediction, and recommendations based on health and sustainability.

What We Wanted to Validate

More than designing a new interface, we wanted to test three fundamental hypotheses:

  1. Convenience + Sustainability: Does it increase perceived value for the user?
  2. Low-code Efficiency: Is it enough to test the business concept?
  3. Purposeful AI: Does it solve real problems or is it just noise?

The Solution: LidlMax

LidlMax proposes an integral ecosystem that goes beyond punctual purchases, focusing on long-term value:

  • Smart Planning: Lists optimized by habits.
  • Dynamic Subscriptions: Automation of recurring purchases.
  • Wellness & Sustainability: Suggestions based on health and environmental impact.

Key Learnings

This project reinforces that the intersection of Design, Business, and Technology is where true innovation happens. I learned that AI is just another design material, and that learning speed is much more valuable than delivery speed in the early stages.
